How It All Began

Jace and Allyson first met in May of 2020, at a time when the world was on lockdown and meeting someone new meant turning to a dating app. Neither of them had ever imagined finding a relationship that way, but after months of social distancing, they decided it was worth a chance. Allyson chose Hinge — after all, it was “the app designed to be deleted.” Not long after matching with Jace, that is exactly what happened. On their first date, Jace took Allyson to dinner. Midway through the evening, Allyson noticed an older gentleman, likely in his eighties, sitting alone at a table set for two. Unable to ignore it, she briefly stepped away to check on him. She learned it was the anniversary of his late wife, and that restaurant had been her favorite place. Before she returned to her table, the gentleman offered a simple but meaningful piece of advice: to enjoy the evening because, as he put it, “You never know… he might be your prince charming.” Five years and six dogs later, Jace and Allyson have built a love story neither of them could have predicted. And as Allyson’s dad has always said, “A good sign makes all the difference.” In this case, the sign was right — the app was deleted, and Jace turned out to be everything she had hoped to find.

The Proposal

In true Jace fashion, he set out to plan the perfect proposal — or so he thought. He arranged a week-long getaway to Puerto Rico, knowing Allyson would love the beautiful beaches and time away together. The trip was planned, the bags were packed, and everything seemed just right — except for one very important detail: the ring never made it into the luggage. If you know Jace, you know he arrives at the airport early and packs light… perhaps a little too light. The ring had been accidentally left behind at the jewelry store. Of course, that only meant another trip was in their future. That October, for Allyson’s birthday, Jace surprised her with a trip to California — the first place they had ever traveled together with friends. Determined to make the moment unforgettable, he planned the day around something Allyson loves: elephants. He took her to the San Diego Zoo, a place she had always wanted to visit. But just as Jace was preparing to ask the question, the elephant had other plans and refused to cooperate with the moment. As they say, the third time’s the charm. Later that afternoon, Jace brought Allyson to Sunset Cliffs to watch the sunset. As she turned to capture the view on video, Jace got down on one knee and finally asked the question he had been waiting to ask. After a few attempts, a couple of unforgettable trips, and plenty of laughter along the way, the timing was finally perfect — and Allyson said yes.

The Next Chapter

While their six dogs — lovingly known as their own little “Brady Bunch” — can't be there for the big day, Jace and Allyson are overjoyed to begin this next chapter together. They can’t wait to say “I do” and celebrate with the people who mean the most to them.

The groomsmen will be dressed in navy suits inspired by his uniform, bridesmaids will wear tones reminiscent of his ship, and touches of gold will be woven throughout to honor the rank, tradition, and distinction he carried with him.

Nana was the very definition of joy and elegance. She brought life to every room, always ready for live music, her favorite cocktail, and something sweet to finish the evening. She had a gift for making every moment feel special and every person feel seen, ensuring that where ever she was, a good time followed.

Grandpop's love was constant, warm, and unmistakable. He was always the first to greet his grandchildren with a hug, proud and full of heart. With a love as bold as Texas and a fondness for turquoise, his spirit remains a steady presence rooted in family, loyalty, and affection.

In Loving Memory
